Listen to the radio segment below and write a brief response (1-2 paragraphs). Post it as a comment to this post.
Consider the following:
• The importance of socially active artists and designers, and the difference this activism/participation can make in society.
• What, if any, are your hopes for the Lab's participation in Identity Blueprint, and that program's impact in Newark?
"Artists as Agents of Social Change: America Now and Here" (1hr 35 mins)
Unleash your radical imagination about our collective future! In this talk, we explore how artists can work for social change through strategic partnerships and hear from featured guests—Kathy Dickhut, deputy commissioner, Chicago Department of Housing and Economic Development; Dorothy Dunn, director of America: Now and Here; Indira Johnson, artist and coordinator of The Ten Thousand Ripples Project;Lisa Yun Lee, director of the Jane Addams Hull-House Museum; and Jason Reblando, photographer. This panel is moderated by Dawoud Bey, artist and Columbia College professor. The panel is followed by a conversation about how these projects and institutions can be sites of cultural resistance.
*Please email us if you are interested in volunteering on 03/10/12 for the Identity Blueprint trip to the Newark Museum. This is the first Saturday of spring break, so no one is required to go, but you will get extra credit and good karma.
**Please print and sign all of the permission forms, if you haven't already.
It is absolutely motivating to hear such engaged people speaking for a good cause that involves a whole country. Here one can see the importance toy push communities forward in a positive way, not only by showing them art but by including them in activities, and organizations that impulse diversity and sustainability. Another positive aspect is the idea of a "whole", meaning not only the people are beneficiated but the environment as well, turning the community into a better one because of its environmental system, arts, and healthy living.
ReplyDeleteThe difficult part of this national problem is (as usual) obtaining the public's attention to engage the community and work as a group (the artist for the community and vise versa). This is why it is extremely important the active participation of artists and designers, because they are the ones who through their art and talent are capable to attract the public's eye and get their attention.
My hopes of participation for Identity Blueprint are hopefully the same as above, to catch the public's eye in an engaging way, wether it involves making invitations, handouts, fliers, posters, etc., and motivate the young women to get involved and take this experience as a positive one in their lives.
RADIO SEGMENT RESPONSE
ReplyDeleteOne woman was asked about how a art activism could be made possible and what was necessary for it to flourish. The woman replied that to her, the most successful way was by joining an already existing organization. If the organization's existence was already publicly known, her projects were more likely to succeed as she would not have to struggle as much to make sure she was also reaching people outside her community.
Another comment that stood out to me was a woman who stated that one of the main ways to make sure a project would be successful was to engage and commit with it, even after the project has already been launched, and even if it had failed. She states that sometimes, socially active artists launched a project based on a "Hot Topic" but that when time went by and new "Hot Topics" arose, then the artists would abandon their old projects and commit to new ones. The error with this is that, socially active artists are no longer individual artists but instead, once they have committed, they are part of an organization that relies and trusts them. And if that artist were to abandon that organization he/she would then be affecting a large group of people.
The last comment that lingered in my mind, was that of a photographer. When he was asked if he believed that socially active artists could make changes happen, he said, "Well, I'm a bit of a cynic, and I don't believe that a change can be made." I was appalled when I heard this, for it made no sense to me as to why he was even present in that room. I must admit it was a comment that threw me off completely.
I disagree with the gentleman. I believe that if a socially active artist decides to launch a project, and puts a 100% effort and commits to it a 100%, the stakes are high that the person will be able to achieve even the smallest change. Art itself has changed our perception of things through time, with the use of a canvas and oil and images. Why shouldn't physical actions be any less affective?? On the contrary, I believe that in this century, physical actions generate more of an impact than anything else.
BLUEPRINT PARTICIPATION:
I believe that I would be great in the gallery design workshop because I am truly interested in seeing and being part of the
transformation of a space into a work of art--being able to decorate the gallery has really interested me since the first time it was mentioned in class.
I know that no matter what group I am put into, I am ready to commit and to engage with this project because it is a new experience--one which I seldom get the chance to endure--and therefore I am very excited. I hope that if I am put into another group, that I will be able to learn quickly so that I can be productive and helpful for this project. After having hear the Radio Segment I feel inspired and motivated enough to commit and help someone in need, and lastly, to make a a positive change!! I believe Blueprint's impact will be incredibly positive and successful. I have high hopes for this organization to be recognized and supported by a lot of different people. I have not doubt that once others see the genuine intentions Blueprint has for educating young adults--that can't afford an education in the arts field--other people will be driven to collaborate, help, and allow even more teenagers to receive an education they have been deprived from.

In listening to this radio segment, I came to the realization of just how crucial these social activist programs are to the art world. They counter the general public view that art is a mere decorative and superfluous activity by utilizing creative visual works to inspire reformation in communities. Through tireless passion and devotion, these activists really immerse themselves into their environment, research current and relevant issues and work to grasp attention to inspire change in people. Art comes as a secondary and more appealing approach to social activism for the public, so it is an invaluable medium in recruiting interest and action. It is always prevalent and updated, and there is always an issue that can be solved through these projects.
ReplyDeleteI hope that through our lab's participation in identity blueprint, we can branch off of the ideals that these activists have pioneered, and inspire young girls to gain interest in and pursue art so, in the future, they can be influenced to work towards social reform. I also hope to see that the public of Newark becomes interested in these future works.
The artists and designers presented in this radio segment are not only socially active, but they have a solid stance on the direction in which culture is traveling and how they want to alter or inform it. They are creating works that attract masses and are also motivating people to ask questions and participate more. Bringing to attention the immediate and long term impacts getting involved can have if enough people can back an idea is so important, especially since artists and designers are the recorders of today's generation - they are what determines how history is noted and remembered.
ReplyDeleteThis notion is an integral part in the development of every creative field, guiding the works that are produced. In the Identity Blueprint project it will be important to keep remembering that although we are starting small, what we are doing will have an impact no matter what. However, the extent to which it moves the girls and lasts in the Newark area is up to us. Being socially active and devoted to a concept, regardless of how 'out-there' it may be, is the strongest foundation we can start with.
These artist’s roles are to build communities and come together to do something good as a group. Some of these artists want to help build a green healthy environments using Urban Design to create green eating spaces and green healthy neighborhoods. They also create art to bring the community together and end negativity between people. They think that art promotes social change and having that happen is a benefit to everyone.
ReplyDeleteMy hopes are to have these girls out the streets and into a place where they can express themselves. They should be part of a community where they can be themselves as well as gain confidence and learn important lessons throughout their time there. They will use them as they grow to become strong confident women. While all this happens I’d want it to be a fun experience for them.
As a student, as an artist, as an individual with the hopes of making it out there somewhere in the world and producing an everlasting impact on society. The radio segment was one of the ideal solutions to performing such tasks. To take on such social activism in the art world and being part of an organization is one of the primary ways an artist can have such influence in the art world. People refuse to believe the influence in art, and in doing so, neglect the fact that these people must have encountered or are already influenced by the circle of art already. These individuals in the radio segment strive to move this realization forward and to bring to the message that art too, can influence a culture.
ReplyDeleteThere is no easy matter in this world, and beginning a task is probably the hardest part and most difficult decision. Carrying it throughout is even more of a challenge. In hopes of the Identity Blueprint is to thrust the girls into a world occupied by social criticism. However, through this, the girls will learn to accept, evaluate, explore, and challenge society’s views in the passions they follow and carry on what they regard to as the most important morals and aspects in which they stand for.
It's interesting to hear from all different perspectives. From people more experienced than other, popular organization to less known organizations, to people older and younger. Though each speaker was different with different causes, they all shared one similarity. They were all each very motivated about their cause and dedicated. They all wanted to use art as a tool. But not only is expanding hard as it is. It is difficult to manage a whole country and grasp their attention. Possibly branching off from something already existing is a good solution, but that may bore others. New ideas are more exciting than the enhancement of an already existing organization. Along with dedication, each cause has their own importance. Overall, these people all have something to say no matter what their cause is. The main importance is them using art to inspire and reach others.
ReplyDeleteHopefully by working with Blueprint Identity, we can learn more about these girls and inspire them to follow their dreams as young artists. Along with that, expanding the word of Blueprint Identity is also important as well. Hopefully these girls feel comfortable with us, and they inspire to be what they want to be. Art has become a powerful language today to this modern world. I hope these girls feel motivated and hopefully our lab class will be dedicated to work with them as well.
While in listening to the following radio segment I found it to be extremely inspiring and motivating to able to hear these engaged people speak for a great cause. To be able to take on social activism and be part of an organization that influences the ideas of the art world; while the radio segment was an ideal solution to perform such tasks; these activists immersed themselves in their work, and passion. Creating art to unite community’s together, sustainability, and brings out the optimistic and positive of the surrounding people. Their art, not only having a huge positive impact to the viewer, they encourage them ask questions, to be curious, participate and motivate those around them.
ReplyDeleteIn hopes for the Identity Blueprint project, is to have an impact on these girls no matter what. To have these girls off the streets and the dangers it can withhold, but into a homely place where they can fully express themselves, relieve any amount of emotions that they hold, gain confidence and learn from one another. In hopes that the can leave with a positive experience and memory that they can have for the rest of their lives. While in my participation for this project I hope to inform the public of a great organization; to help these girls in any way whether it is through interaction or not but my hopes is as well to create somewhat of an impact.
In this segment, I truly admire the fact that many topics about the changes of art in society were spoke upon and discussed, ranging from the major events such as women’s rise to rights and 9/11. The whole segment definitely tells a more in-depth knowledge about the change in society through art, specifically with the fundraiser and the gathering of artists they took in. Hearing such enthusiasm from multiple nations’ artists or even the leading ones speaks about the culture and its participation given across the world. Also, the portrayal of a poetry work shared a view and a great part of an aspect on the entire project. The background music and the context both help alongside one another to enforce the project’s background story.
ReplyDeleteOne specific artist I would like to point out would definitely be Barbara Kennen, (not sure if that’s how you spell her last name, I apologize) she pointed something great about the artists nowadays and how they have changed over time. As far as history goes, artists have always been putting time into commitment with works and practices being done everyday; however, she acknowledged the fact that artists have always been socially engaging by putting a lot of work into one piece without expect as much returned. This point I find to be quite significant to the whole conversation.
Hearing such a large group of people speak about helping their community along with social change is inspiring for me as i take part in the identity blueprint program. just as the woman said, the only way to make a difference and help is to push other join and engage in helping the community. hearing this radio segment made me appreciate my opportunity in helping with identity blueprint because of how crucial it is to take part in these social programs. These project are crucial to the art world and generally effective in drawing the general public's attention.
ReplyDeleteEven though all the women were apart of different causes. All the women on this recording were very passionate and dedicated to their causes. i think by involving myself with the identity blueprint program it will help the program expand. Taking part in things like IB will help many appreciate inspiring and helping others. Involving yourself in these programs can benefit you as well as others around you.
while i listened to this panel of speakers It reminded me of the TED video we watched. It reminded me of how important it is to use our imaginations as artists to help, and even if we may not have the know how to do it ourselves we can work as a group to get things done. joining tougher creates a better possibility for funding i believe as well and, a stronger possibility to suceede in general. I think there is power in number and that's why this partnership with identity blueprint is so great. also identity blueprint is a perfect example of artists giving back (just like the women in the panel). I think it is important that artist try to affect change because they often have different approaches then most people. listening to this panel just got me excited to be apart of this class!
ReplyDeleteAfter listening to the segment, I felt like it is comforting to know that the involvement of artists and designers in communities isn’t something small in this country; that we are not alone in this. In a way, the influence of artists like Barbara Kruger, whom I have always admired, triggers us, as young designers, to have the drive to follow her lead. I feel like every group that wishes to achieve something needs to get its inspiration/leadership from somewhere. This definitely serves for us, as it is an example of compromise from the artist community. In addition, I like the fact that it seeks to involve the whole of the population, not just the “artsy crowds” or segregated groups like homeless people. It seeks to help and touch on all levels. I feel like the trucks driving across the whole of the city serve as a way to englobe everyone that is present, both geographically and metaphorically. It is an event that bonds everyone that witnesses it and that hears about it from someone, serving as a thread to join us. I feel proud of the work they are doing because I feel like an artist’s job is not complete if their ideas stay in their studios or their galleries. Artists are blessed with the capacity to transmit feelings, and all populations should be open to gather and learn from these.
ReplyDeleteI feel like the Lab’s participation in Identity Blueprint will bring benefits for both the girls involved in the project, the community as a whole, and we as volunteers. I hope that we will be able to teach the girls beyond what the program has planned for us to do. We should concentrate on making this a memorable experience for them, one that will hopefully harvest in them a special drive to pursue an artistic career, having the courage to follow their dreams.
I've actually thought a lot about this in the past because I've always loved making art, and always cared a lot about humanitarian issues. There was a point, however, when I started thinking that visual art was a frivolous rich-kid pastime- something that exists just for the privileged. This was totally wrong, though. One big thing that made me realize this was a book written and illustrated by Sue Coe about factory farming. I just picked it up randomly in the library one day. It was called Dead Meat, and it had the most intense, violent, raw illustrations of what happens inside these industrial meat-factories. Her images twisted my stomach in such a way that I couldn't eat meat anymore (until I became anemic hahah). You could look at her book as expressive documentation or liberal propaganda, and maybe it's a little of both. It was really inspiring, though, to see someone use artwork- a media that appeals to the emotions and visceral human reactions in a way many other media cannot- for a socio/political end.
ReplyDeleteAs far as Identity Blueprint goes, I hope that we can be really awesome role models for the girls and help them make artwork that they're really proud of. I think it's kinda amazing in high school when kids realize they CAN make stuff they're really proud of. One of the best role models I had in high school was this lady named Gabby. She was super awesome because she was just herself. That's something it seems like high school students always struggle with, but it's one of the most important things to do to realize your potential as a young artist and human being.
With cooperation with artist across the world, American now and here project would make the difference in society. This project brings together people who loves art to share the experience of art and gives them access to beauty. They offers a lot of program and events anyone can join. What I finds really effective in promoting this program is the idea of a cross-country truck tour. Where it is designed to go everywhere catching people attention from communities to communities by offering each stops an experience of arts from the work of the famous artists.
ReplyDeleteFrom being a part of this program I would be able to get involved in inspiring young artists to perform arts of their interest and to move forward the program in Newark. My hopes for the Identity Blueprint are for the program to gain a lot of support and participation from young girls, also being recognized and active in communities.
Understanding how anything we are doing or working towards affects the world around us is crucial. I come from a country where even education is such a novelty. In a place where the definition of 'literacy' is being able to print your name, understanding and loving art is a very distant prospect.
ReplyDeleteFor me, listening to poetry and prose is so moving. In fact, listening to this piece I feel almost like it would be beautiful if we got the girls working with Identity Blueprint to read verses of a poem they have all loved and taped them doing this reading. We could pick a piece of writing that is related to art or the process of creating.
I loved listening to the idea of 'safe danger'- The idea of using art to elicit responses and a want to create change. To me it comes across as wanting to begin an intellectual revolution.
The Identity Blueprint program gives us all a chance to be a part of something more than ourselves. We get a peek into a world removed from our own self-absorption, a welcome change.
Listening to this radio segment was inspiring because its not only one artist but a group of them all committing themselves and their time to good causes. Rather than art just being a spectacle in a gallery it is now transformed and interactive, taken to the streets and joined with a community. They are making differences in peoples lives, and with Identity blue print we have the opportunity to do the same. Delving into a community that may differ from our own will give us a perspective on things and hopefully further stimulate us to stay involved with such programs.
ReplyDelete"I want to share my art out there to America" - doesn't this just embody a small part of each and everyone of us? Weather it be art, politics, business you name it, each one of us wants to be seen and or recognized by our peers, colleagues and communities?
ReplyDeleteAmerica Now and Here is a wonderful way to engage in our communities and help give social, and mental strength to our country. What a fantastic way to gather all different types of individuals that live in the US the opportunities that may bond new friendships and love of art. "Making Art together" giving rise to the notion of art, community and society all elements that could be the spark in the love of our country. America now and here, not only engages with all different types of individuals but it challenges them to engage by including different activities, events, conversations, and dialogs.
We are leaders, and we can learn from others. I believe Identity blueprint will be a fantastic adventure in which we can trade knowledge between different individuals and help inspire other people in what we do and what inspires us.
Listening to this radio segment, I was amazed how people actually bring this kind of topic to discuss among a large group. I thought this project is very appealing which gives chances to everyone to access to art and feel the beauty of a work of art. People can actually share their artworks through this project and they can be more familiar with arts. I find some people consider art is a difficult subject and a fancy activity, but through this project anyone can enjoy art and they can understand more about art.
ReplyDeleteBeing part of this Blueprint project, I hope young artists (girls) can more participate in art performances or they can actually interact with art. Also, I look forward to learn about these girls and inspire them so that they can accomplish their dreams to be artists. I believe out lab class and our dedications on this project will bring a good result.
“Artists make things”. That’s the statement that stole my attention and I
ReplyDeletecould not agree more. As artists, we are constantly engaged not only with society, but the world that surrounds us. We are always aware of what is happening and what is changing in our environs; we are incessantly observing, we notice transformation, evolution, variation and innovation. Art has been developing gradually through out the years and today, it can be anything and almost everything. So we ask ourselves today, what is art? It is such a broad subject, that today, it has become confusing for us to discern and locate the boundaries between what is art and what is not. However, nowadays, art has become a powerful source of knowledge and inspiration to our society and even more, to our artists, who have opened up to create different kinds of art.
The ideal of this organization is to utilize art in ways we--the viewers--have never seen. The commitment of these socially active artists is now greater, more important, and impacting than before. In the long run, they expect their actions to not only influence individuals, but instead, groups of people, towns and communities, by changing their lifestyles. Eventually, the effect will be even greater to the extent that it will end up affecting cities and countries. To achieve this however, an action is not enough. There must be passion inciting that action, because without passion, without there being a connection between the artist and the people in need, the artists will achieve nothing.
I personally believe that this organization will have a huge impact in communities because big groups generate big changes. Their broad interest in food, manufacture, landscapes, abandoned lots, public spaces, and peace, reflects not only their public engagement but a immense willingness to enhance communities. These artists’ potencial not only means the evolution of this project but also, an incredible positive social change that can continue progressing in insurmountable ways. The social response also means an evident interchange between environmental and social changes. Taking into account this mere interaction, it should be taken in as a starting point to incentive even more this successful project, which reveals a great passion and charity for art and community. With my participation in Identity Blueprint, I believe that I would be able to help the young girls to achieve their goals. As a team, I think that everyones’ participation is extremely important to take this project to the next level.
After listening to this radio segment I realized how important is to work as a team and to be engaged with the outside world. I learned that by getting involved in some work with people to make a better society is a beneficial way for an artist to improve in many ways. By being socially active and by trying to work with new people, we are starting to make a better world around us. This can be nothing by now or it can be a small project but by this small attempt, many changes are going to take place and later on we will be able to see all these changes and improvements. In this listening we can hear how these artists use art as a tool to help society to be more united and to help people change and become inspired by art.
ReplyDeleteI believe that by doing this Identity Blueprint project, we are going to be able to inspire millions of students and people interested in art and we are also going to make a great change in society. I hope that these high school girls enjoy the time working with us and I hope they gain a lot of knowledge about art. I hope that this project will give a great impact in society and that it is going to influence many young artists.
Trees, grass, and an artist's eye is the solution to finding relief in Urban Environments. Urban living are the epitome of human development, achievement, and intelligence, however these massive industrial and social developments begin to crowd and forces nature farther and farther away, so much so that from my 15th Street dorm window, birds chirping and geese flacking have been replaced by honking horns, the knocking of new construction and the haunting noise of wind catching up with the cars on the roads. Public planners have been aware of this push since the beginning of these major american cities. They had lived on the cusp of everyone living on farms to everyone moving to urban dwellings, upon the industrial revolutions.
ReplyDeleteThe action of the artist. It is the action of the artist evoke the controversial and the change to fix it. Artist have been given this right since being freed as painters in the late 1800s, with the mass use and preference for photographic images; the perfection in art had been achieved. With photographers, they were able to document the civil war and the first world war and the migrating poor of the 1930s. These images then were mass produced and distributed all across America. America was able to see the horrors themselves, as if for the first time, because they could put themselves in place where the photographs were.
I've been to Newark once before and had disliked the place. The sky was brown because of this smog it had and you had to make u-turns, instead of left and right, on to streets and highways. The part of the city I had been to lacked all the human touch, but has all of the industrial touch. That city needed to beauty itself. Art and education are two avenues to achieve that.
Art can be achieved with little to no money at all, and it is with art which evokes some aesthetic pleasure in us to look. With the Identity Blueprint girls, I hope the program is able to instill the potential of the power of art and media, so much so that we will be able inspire more than just these 10 girls but thousands beyond. I really like this concept of starting small then growing the program, to perhaps have a more interactive online presence. It will be amazing to see what happens in a few months.
As stated in the radio segment, our generations is known communicating more with art. This gives everyone an equal opportunity to be heard no matter what race, ethnicity, gender, nationality, legality, etc. In some forms the best way to raise awareness is to paint the picture. Society may be blinded by their own difficulties until something is in relation to them. Everyone has similar struggles and being an active artists, allow you show its impact on everyday people. Communities all around the world have different experiences, which gives a different interpretation of the art. Some may recognize the situation and others will follow the activism.
ReplyDeleteIdentity Blueprint gives an opportunity for young girls to explore the world of art through video and photography. These girls have a chance to get away from their neighborhoods and purse something much bigger than what they may have set for themselves. I want to explore the lives of these individuals because I have walked the same streets before. I think it’s important for people to understand them and not the situation. These communities are in need of help from their citizens, and as a group I believe we can make a difference in a few but significant lives.
" Every drop in the ocean counts". In today's world where we are being
ReplyDeletefaced by innumerable social, environmental and peace issues it is
important for each citizen to be aware. This spreading of awareness
has to start somewhere, a group of artist have come together for the
Ten Thousand Ripples Project to promote peace in the American
society. It stemmed from an artist observing the harsh language being
used in American society which further brings builds up to an unsafe
environment. This project aims to bring about change in the present
day America .
Artist use art as a method of self expression. They convey there
message and voice through there art. They have the ability to make
that presence felt by making a statement with there art which a lot
of other people don't. Just like Indira Johnson did an installation
of seven chairs in Evanston which had carvings of conversations she
observed between people over a time period. These carvings deal with
the culture of the place, creative energy of the place and the hopes
and dreams of the people. This place is visited by people everyday
intentionally or non intentionally but every time some one crosses
this area it strikes a conversation it reminds the people of there
rich culture and dreams. A public work of art like this can only help
better a community as it instills positivity in the people. In Three
Ripples Project in which they are planning to create an installation
with Buddha heads and fiber class in communities where people are open
to the idea and are actually getting involved with the artist. These
people are coming together in order to decide where to place to place
this installation either in public gardens where it will be visited by
a lot people or in dingy areas which are unsafe and need change. This
project will help bring the community and people from all strata of
life to talk to each other in a civil manner and help bring peace. The
use of public places to displays art gives a sense of unity where
anyone can come and interact with the art. Each person taking back
different interpretations of it and being affected in different ways.
Such art is serving two purposes it is aesthetically pleasing and it
is helping resolve social issues. Artist are thus using there talent
to spread awareness in the society and to voice opinion of the
majority.
While working with Identity Blueprint I hope to contribute to the
community by helping these ten high school girls . This could be the
starting of a successful workshop which might follow for years. I hope
to inspire these girls so that they can do the same for other people.
This will help the girls to chase there dreams like I chased mine.
This segment was very inspirational for me. It truly made me realize how important volunteering, and getting involved really is. In this day and age, we've almost completely lost all physical contact with one another, as everything has become digital. Its interesting to think about how much we, as humans crave unity and being a part of something bigger than just ourselves, yet we pull away from the greater community, and isolate ourselves. Often times, we'd rather have a facebook conversation with a "friend" than go out of the way to meet for coffee. America Here and Now is a great example of a group of creative people who are trying to break this trend by reaching out and encouraging strangers to start conversation and debate amongst one another. This to me is the most successful part of their project, providing a community.
ReplyDeleteIn terms of IB, this segment has further inspired me to really get out there and interact with these girls who live completely different life styles, and gives me the opportunity to build a unique community.
This speech gives me a whole new idea of how gallery and musemum can work. Gallery can not only present art work but also bring out problems and conversation. Audience can not only observe but also participate and join in the discussion and solve the problem by different forms of art expression. Artist can all have a second identity, which is social activist. Artists point out problems in America, whether it is about politics, enviornment, or relationship, by putting their thoughts and emotion into their artwork. Gallery let audience join in conversation by presenting these work and people from everywhere, every culture bring new ideas into the discussion to help and unify things together. For example, artists find out the negative part of Americans' behaviors and shout out the situation, letting the society notice the problem and find solution. Also, artists develop new program to offer art lessons for a certain type of people; Artists design and organize the way of arranging the houses, plants, undergroundwater system, the way of bringing recycling idea into everyday's practice. The conversation, new program, new project innovates artists to participate into society development, into conmmunity problems, such as the use of public spaces, the abandoned buldings etc.
ReplyDeleteI hope this Lab class can really interact and join into every aspects in Identity Blueprint running program. Not just focusing on how to make the logo, website, hadouts look good, what we really need to focus on is to design the way of making those girls get the information and interested in these lessons, the way of presenting artwork of those girls and using the presentation as some of advertisements to attract more people join in the classes, join in this program and make it biger and stronger. At first, when I get the information about Identity Blueprint. I really thought that what they need is not artists, designers, but a good PR or some good advertisements to let people notice this program and attract some founders. However, This speech really maximize the limits if what artists can do and engage.
